Gadzooks! I found this out earlier this morning while staring blankly at a Chinese newspaper and trying to get my head on straight after sleeping off a long evening. From what I could read, they'd just reported that he made the qualifier, though I didn't have a sense of whether he'd be allowed to participate, so I came by for a confirmation.
