Once upon a time, in the primordial swamp of the blogging era (the blomp?), I started a Blogger.com blog called Motor Ethics. I think I bailed after two entries, making it one of at least four abandoned blogs (ablandonment?) I've left rattling around Google's server farms. But the idea was to examine issues like the following, which ran in today's Chronicle:
I'm saying that there's a perceived moral hierarchy in the transportation sector, based on vulnerability. At the top of the pyramid are pedestrians -- wait, probably disabled pedestrians, then abled pedestrians -- followed by bicycle riders, takers of public transportation, drivers of hybrid vehicles, drivers of small cars, drivers of larger cars and finally drivers of monstroso SUVs with special seats for golden retrievers and wheelbases wider than the average country road....
