I thoroughly enjoyed reading a hypercompressed version of the NASA hypergravity experiment story I wrote for Wired 9 (!) years ago. I batted lead-off on the Elbo Room stage during Litcrawl, the final evening of San Francisco's annual Litquake festival. The theme of the event, which featured SF Writers' Grotto members, was Death, advertised as "Come Cheer The Reaper."
Warning: be on the lookout for Daggohead.
According to Finn, Daggohead is a fish that kills the world. He hates humans, and he hates sharks. And he hates glass. And he hates flowers. Other things he hates: underwater snakes, rattlesnakes, the sun, thunder and lightning.
Things he doesn't hate: numbers, walls, curtains, wood, crabs, dogs, chairs, bags, clothes, movies, newspapers, pillows.
Rule 1: when sneaking in some work while everyone is at the beach, you must cease said work immediately when a child arrives and offers to display the seashells she has collected.
